The Department of Local Government and the Environment granted SUEZ Isle of Man a Waste Disposal Licence on the 14th of November 2003. The Licence authorises the sorting, storage, processing and incineration of waste.

The Waste Disposal Licence includes conditions that have to be complied with, and and emission limits are in line with the Waste Incineration Directive 2000/76/EC. The plant has been designed using state of the art proven technology to ensure that it can achieve this best European practice in waste incineration. These conditions include the continual monitoring of the cleaned flue gases, which are discharged to air via the 67m high chimney stack.
